Morzine Restaurant Review – Le Clin d’Oeil

Morzine traditional restaurants

Le Clin d’Oeil means The Wink, an odd name for this excellent Morzine restaurant. The menu is based on dishes from the South West of France so there is lots of duck plus a wide selection of steaks, Savoyard classics, a few interesting meat dishes and a good specials board. Its famous cassoulet is a real treat, they even include the recipe in the menu and you can watch it being made on their website. Desserts wise we’ve just discovered the Coupes Glaces and can highly recommend the Café Liégeois, definitely a grown up icecream. Whatever you choose it’s always delicious.

The surroundings are comfortable, in 3 separate sections so it feels cosy and personal. It’s in a bit of an odd place though, right at the bottom of town just round the back of the Carrefour.

But what really sets it apart for us is the service. It’s warm, welcoming and professional and there is one important extra…. the team at the Clin d’Oeil actively encourage you to speak French! They’ll laugh along with you when you get it wrong and patiently wait for you to try again…so even my husband will give it a go!

Beautiful food, a relaxed atmosphere and sense of humour….I’ll wink to that
