I’ve always felt that a Morzine summer holiday was great value for money. But is it really true?
Morzine is one of the biggest names for summer adventure holidays in the Alps. The town, along with local accommodation providers like Elevation Alps, have worked hard over the last 10 years to create a destination for adrenalin activities for all the family.
My interest was piqued by recent conversations with friends about how much the cost of their normal beach resort summer holiday had increased this year. I knew that Morzine summer holiday accommodation prices had stayed pretty static over the last few years, so I was intrigued to know where that ranked us vs the beach holiday.
I wanted to make sure I was making a fair comparison, and coming from Yorkshire I’m pretty careful with my dosh. So, I used Jet2 package holidays because they’re great value.
Here is what I found for a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 teenagers…….
BEACH RESORT HOLIDAY IN IBIZA – JET2 self catering in Ibiza w/c Sat 27th July. Basic 3 star resort with a fun pool. Including flights. Converted to euros = €3800
SUMMER ADVENTURE HOLIDAY IN MORZINE – Luxury self catered in Morzine w/c Sat 27th July + EasyJet flights with 2 hold bags & Car Hire + Multipass* = €1242 + €1879 + €72 = €3193
That is pretty conclusive. A cheap holiday in Ibiza is more expensive than a luxury modern apartment in the centre of Morzine plus a hire car and unlimited access to 70 activities for a family of 4.
