Hiking Linderets to La Cascade Des Brochaux ( Utilising a chair lift to gain elevation then a 2 hour walk back down via a beautiful waterfall and a goat village, medium difficulty)
If you’re looking to get out into the ski area and see it in it’s summer form then the hiking Linderets to La Cascade des Brochaux hike could be a great option. If you’re familiar with skiing the Avoriaz to Linderets pistes then you’ll recognise the slopes as you pass above them on the lift up to Avoriaz and you’ll work your way back down some of the popular slopes towards the waterfall.
The hike is mostly downhill and not too demanding. An easy downhill hike that goes past a picturesque alpine waterfall and finishes in a village full of wonderful restaurants that’s been totally over run by goats…. What’s not to like?!
Goat Village
Linderets, locally known as Goat Village is a small rural farming hamlet nestled high in the hills at the end of the valley above Lac Montriond. The hamlet consists of just a few restaurants and shops and most people who visit Linderets are there for the goats!! The goats rule the roost and wander the streets freely enjoying the attentions of tourists who come to pet and feed them. It’s quite strange concept but it’s well worth a visit just for the uniqueness alone!!
Playing Chicken With Goats
Linderets is accessed by driving through Montriond and continuing up past the lake and bearing left at the turn off to Ardent lift station and following the road up. We recommend parking just below Linderets in the car park by the entrance to the village (that way you don’t have to play chicken with the goats) and heading off through the village on foot. At the plateau just above the village you’ll find some more restaurants and two ski lifts which are usually busy with mountain bikers (you can also park here if Linderets is busy or you’d rather not walk through the goats).
Take the lift to your right which heads up to Avoriaz called Telesiege des Linderets which is free to use if you have taken advantage of the wonderful Multipass offer available with all Elevation Alps Morzine accommodation. The lift drops you on top of the Avoriaz Ridge and you want to take the path to your left and follow signs for Cascade des Brochaux which you will reach in about an hour of descending.
Lunch By The Waterfall
The Cascade des Brochaux is stunning and there is a level grassy field at the bottom providing the perfect picnic spot (there is a restaurant here also if you prefer). Once your fully refreshed and ready to go follow the footpath which runs down along the river signposted La Lecherette which will take you all the way back down to the Linderets plateau.
The walk should take you around two hours to complete and is flat or downhill most of the way. You will need to make use of the lift so ensure you have your multipass or money for the lift with you before setting out.
