Restaurant Review – La Chanterelle

Le Chanterelle is a well known restaurant on Mont Cheri, on the back side of the hill, just to the left of the Cheri Nord lift.

Mont Cheri is a small ski area just on the very far right of the Portes Du Soleil area, just to the right of Les Gets.  It is very quiet because it is accessed via a short walk or the Petit Train which tends to put people off.  But it is really worth the effort.  When Morzine is busy this is the perfect place to get away from the crowds.

The Chaneterelle is open for lunch every day.  The menu isn’t huge but they have a good range with salads, steaks, burgers and chicken dishes.  Everything is freshly home cooked and they have a daily plat du jour

On the day we visited the plat du jour was steak with chips and a red wine sauce.  It was excellent.  The chips are home made fries and the sauce was deep in flavour.  My husband has the half chicken which also came with those home made fries and was juicy and tasty.

The girls on the table next to us shared the double Off Piste Burger which was absolutely huge, at least a foot tall!

They have two rooms, the main restaurant is the main door and can get very busy.  There is an overspill room next door that they open once the main room is full.  They ask you to take off your boots and put on some slippers because of the wooden floors.  It feels slightly odd but in the end it was a really comfy way to enjoy a mid ski lunch.

The staff this year are a little crazy, loud and disorganized but very sweet.  The food they are producing is very professional and we will certainly be back.
