Morzine Summer Activity Guide – Fantasticable

the Fantasticable in Morzine

The Fantasticable

The Fantasticable is a high altitude zip line that soars high above a beautiful Alpine valley. Covering a total distance of 2.5 kilometres the fantasticable reaches speeds of around 100 kilometres per hour.

The Fantasticable starts at an altitude of 1928m above sea level and zips thrill seekers across the Plaine Dranse valley in two stages. Starting at the top of the Chaux Fleurie lift participants are kitted out in their safety gear and given a safety briefing. Then they are laid face down in their harness below the zip line before being attached. Once the safety lock is removed the speed picks up quickly and  they soar high above the valley floor towards the first checkpoint. At its highest point the Fantasticable is suspended a dizzying 240m above the ground.

After reaching the first checkpoint participants are  then placed on a second zip wire and are set off again at high speed on the second and final descent. Once at the bottom, which happens very quickly, it’s easy to get back up to the top of the Chaux Fleurie lift by jumping on the Rochassons lift.

A ride on the Fantasticable will set you back 36EUR, however if you feel you’d like to take some company along for the ride,it’s also possible to do it in tandem.  For a dual ride it costs 72EUR. Booking is not possible unless you are a party of ten or more so it’s a case of just turning up and paying for your ride.

How To Find The Fantasticable

The easiest way to get to the Fantasticable from Morzine is by car. You can drive through Montriond and up past the lake. Following the road up you’ll pass through an open sided tunnel. A few hundred meters past this you’ll see some signs for Cascade d’Ardent. If you fancy a quick scenic detour then pull over here and follow the path down for about 100m and you’ll come to a footbridge over a large waterfall.

Back on the road you’ll quickly come to a fork in the road by the small hamlet of Ardent. Take the left fork and the road continues up  past the lower station of the Ardent lift (not operational during the summer) and through the goat village. Continue on a few hundred meters past the village and you come to the Linderts bowl on your left with a huge parking area. The Chaux Fleurie lift is just a short walk from the carpark and the Fantasticable starts at the top of the lift.

Alternatively the Fantasticable can be reached by taking the Prodains Express lift up to Avoriaz and walking through the village and up to the top of the Lindarets lift. Take this lift down to Les Lindarets and cross the bowl and take the Chaux Fleurie lift up the other side of the valley.

Lunch options are plentiful and the Linderets bowl is home to some fantastic restaurants with sunny outdoor dining areas. You’ll find a range of cuisines from quick service snacks to three course meals. There is also a lovely babbling brook that flows through the bowl that is great for a lazy afternoon.

The Fantasticable is a unique experience and one you’ll not forget in a hurry. Combined with a lunch stop and a paddle in the river in Linderets, or a swim in Lac Montriond it’s a great day out. You’ll also get to see a bit of the wider area and really explore the beautiful mountains that surround Morzine.
