What is it like to work for Elevation Alps?

Are you interested in working a ski season?  Our part time chalet host roles give you the perfect balance between earning money and getting time to enjoy your season.  James and Taylor give you their view on what it was like.

G’day guys! We’re James and Taylor who were lucky enough to work for Elevation Alps over the 19/20 winter season.

As a part time Chalet Host, you get to be the face of the company when guests arrive and experience their holiday excitement. You’re only working 2-3 days per week which means there’s plenty of time to ski, drink, or enjoy snow activities.  We enjoyed the little things these ladies did like driving us home when it was raining, buying us snacks while we were flagging at work, helping us with things outside of work, and responding to random messages 24/7. Kath, Abi and Lindsay are such genuine, caring ladies who we’ll defs be keeping in touch with over the years. Working for them was a blessing and we know they’ll continue to succeed.

Morzine is a great community – if you don’t know anyone now, I’m sure you’ll know most by the end of the season. (This also means never say anything bad about anyone unless you want it to get back to you haha). Picture a town filled with traditional wooden chalets, surrounded by snowy mountains, with one main road of bars so you can’t get lost walking home. It’s super joyful over Christmas and New Years, plus there are a few big music festivals in the area too! We didn’t know much about the area when we got the job, but omg we scored settling here for 7 months. We ended up getting “stuck” here during Covid19 and can easily say that it’s a beautiful destination all year around. We can see why people come for a holiday and never leave!

You’re in Portes du Soleil – one of the biggest ski areas in Europe with access to 600km of skiing and 14 resorts over France and Switzerland. There are 316 slopes and 30 snow parks which are so much fun. Even if you want a break from the mountain, there are plenty of other activities which we did; night sledging, ice skating, yoonering, paragliding, snow shoeing, ice diving, hiking, husky sledging, and the aquatic centre in Avoriaz. Kath also organises a bangin’ staff night every month which you don’t want to miss!

Overall we had an amazing first winter season. Thanks to Morzine and Elevation, we have extremely high expectations for our next one. If you are thinking of doing a season, just go for it, we promise you won’t regret it!
