Rock The Pistes is a fantastic live music event that spans the whole Portes du Soleil. In 2022, Rock The Pistes celebrates its tenth anniversary. Therefore, we can expect it to be better than ever and unmissable for the music lover.
What Is Rock The Pistes?
Rock The Pistes is a week-long event that locals and holiday makers enjoy every spring in the Portes du Soleil. From Sunday, 13th March to Sunday 19th March, you can combine world-class skiing and snowboarding with a unique live music format.
The music festival is like no other, as it consists of acts from all over the world performing on the ski slopes of the Portes du Soleil. Throughout the week, festival organisers build stages around the ski area that you can ski up to.
You can expect 35 concerts going on all week. The open-air events feature some excellent headline bands and artists. DJs start to warm up the crowds at 12:45 every day, so make sure you get a good spot early.
Rock The Pistes also adds a unique twist to your après ski. During the week there are over 30 concerts in the resorts all around the Portes du Soleil. Up and coming international artists will have you dancing in your ski boots from 5pm for the ultimate après-ski experience.
In the past, we have seen the likes of Babyshambles, The Klaxons, Rag n’ Bone Man and The Stranglers blast their hits across the alpine landscape.
One of the great things people love about Rock The Pistes is that it is a free music festival. You can get to all the concerts using your lift pass, as they are all on the slopes.
A Unique Musical Experience
Rock The Pistes is a great opportunity to see some well-known and not-so-well-known artists in incredible open-air venues. Sipping a drink while being entertained with the picturesque alpine backdrop is not something you can do every day.
You can make one of the many concerts part of your day on the mountain. Why not head over to Avoriaz, Les Gets, or one of the Swiss resorts? This will allow you to experience different areas while enjoying different acts?
When you combine an event such as Rock The Pistes with one of the largest ski areas in the world, you can have a ski holiday with a difference. The spring conditions mean you have milder temperatures and longer days to make the open air an even better place to be.
The atmosphere at each concert is fantastic. For Rock The Pistes 2022, 25,000 people are expected to attend.
