• June 16th – Haute Chablais Cycle Sportive

A public entry cycle race with two distance options 155km and 100km over some of the toughest Cols in the area –  Joux Verte, Corbier, Grand Taillet, Jambaz and the famous Joux Plane finishing up in Morzine town centre.

 

• June 21st-23rd Savoie Cup Porsche Gathering

Over 200 Porches take part in the rally which tours the local mountain roads and a further 400 Porsches join the fun in Morzine

 

• June 28th-30th Passportes du Soleil Mountain Bike Festival

The official opening weekend of the full Portes du soleil Cycle area and it goes off with a bang. Thousands of avid mountain bikers flood to Morzine from all over the world to take part in the event which encompasses an 80km route rode in one day utilisng the lifts and exploring the whole cycle area. Morzine is the main hub for the event and hosts the festivities including a huge trade show with over 200 brands in attendance.

 

• July 5th-7th Spartan Race

The Spartan race is one of the most exciting weekends of the summer and the Morzine edition is one of the toughest stops on the Spartan calendar with Sprint, Super and Beast categories all taking place over the weekend. The 12 mile beast race includes approximately 30 obstacles on a steep and slippery trail which takes Spartans across and under logs, up and down cargo nets, zip lines, in and out of rivers and waterfalls. There’s also a kids spartan race on the Sunday too.

 

• July 11th-14th Harley Days Festival

Thousands of Harley Davidson owners and enthusiasts from all over Europe flock to Morzine for one of the loudest weekends of the year. Bike demonstrations, group rides and a huge trade show are all topped off with a massive music festival in the town square.

 

• July 13th-14th UCI Mountain Bike World Cup (Les Gets)

Morzine’s closest neighbour Les Gets plays host to the fifth round of the UCI mountain bike world cup which will see the best riders in the world battle it out with both downhill and cross country races taking place over the weekend.

 

• July 22nd-26th Morzine Kids Kingdom 

Morzine puts on an exceptional week for children, free shows, workshops and loads of activities in the town centre through the week.

 

• August 4th Grimpee D’Avoriaz Cycle Race

The Grimpee d’Avoriaz is one of the oldest cycle races in France. It started when the Tour de France first came through the valley in 1975. A casual bike race for all abilities, it stretches over  14.6km with 860m of climbing at a 6% incline. The record of 33 minutes has stood for 28 years by Bernard Hinault!

 

• August 9th-11th Hauts-Forts Trail Running Race & KMV

The trail des hauts forts running race starts in Morzine and finishes in Avoriaz  racing around the Hauts-Forts, the highest summit in the Chablais and the Portes du Soleil. The KMV de Nantaux is a slightly different trail running race, running up one vertical kilometre as fast as possible. What makes the Nantaux KMV especially hard is the length of the trail. It’s only 2.2km making it an extremely steep race.  

 

• September 1st Morzine Montriond Sprint Triathlon

Surely the most scenic sprint triathlon in the world. It involves swimming in and running around Lac de Montriond and cycling the lower part of the Col de la Joux Verte (no major climbs). A great race for beginners and experienced triathletes alike.

 

• September 5th-7th Mont Blanc Rally

The rally has been visiting Morzine for the last 20 years and truly is an automotive spectacle, with rally cars of all kinds and generations taking on the local cols. The rally is part of the French automobile championships and is a must see for any rally enthusiast.
